Shutter is selling prints from photographers who have donated photos for a good cause. 100% of the proceeds from each print go to relief. We will have a rotating batch of photographers.
"Due to the closure of restaurants across America, thousands of restaurant workers have an urgent need for assistance. Independent restaurants are at the center of the vibrant growth in America. For the past decade, we have relied on the convivial and dynamic hospitality of the independent restaurant scene to make this a city that we are incredibly proud of. Restaurant workers need your help more than ever. It is vital that we offer relief to those in need, so after this crisis restaurants can return to their full vibrancy."
"We have turned restaurants across the country into relief centers with local chefs for any restaurant worker who has been laid off or has had a significant reduction in hours and/or pay. We are offering help for those in need of food and supplies. Each night, we will pack hundreds of to-go meals that people can come to pick up and take home."
The Lee Initiative existed before COVID, offering leadership and training programs to create a feeder program aimed at diversifying the culinary industry. Chef Edward Lee is a restaurateur and former host of Mind of a Chef and has a track record of supporting the communities that he works in. Learn more about their work at: https://leeinitiative.org/
Every Monday. We will update the website with the total amount raised.
Shutter is organized by Adam Debreczeni and made possible by a bunch of kind-hearted folks:
Special thanks to Teddy Worcester for the domain and invaluable help, Amity Rockwell for the initial chat that led to this project and the support throughout, Courtney Guertin for being an early champion and generous with introductions, Ella Jayes for reaching out to photographers and the enthusiasm, Majd Taby for being the first to join, and lastly all of the photographers who contributed their photos.
We have sourced a high quality printer, El-Co Labs, based in New Jersey. Each print is high quality, 16x20, and printed on "Fujicolor Crystal Archive Professional Paper Super Type C Glossy".
Shutter donates 100% of the proceeds to the cause. After printing ($15.00), shipping ($13.30 unsubsidized cost, with a $5 order offset), and taxes ($2.70) we're left with a "profit" of $24.30 that will be donated with each order.
If you’re based in the US, you should receive your print within 7-10 business days. If you’re based in Canada, shipping is more expensive, but you should receive your print within the same time range with USPS Priority International Mail. Currently we only ship to the US (including Alaska and Hawaii) and Canada.
After you place an order, you will receive a confirmation and an update when your print has shipped.
